Can you pause a download on chrome, close chrome and come back to it another time?

If not is there a way to transfer these downloads to firefox or windows?|||Have a look at the following link from Google. It says you can pause downloads, but I'm not sure you can close the browser in between sessions. You could try it by following the instructions here:
